My name is Dr. Miguel Alonso Jr, and I’m an Associate Professor of Computer Science (Visiting) at Florida International University in Miami, FL.

Previously, I was an Associate Professor of Data Science and the Director of Research and Economic Development at Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, as well as the CEO of Slingshot Labs, a Product Development and Startup Consulting Company, providing Software/Hardware Engineering, Lean Startup and Product Development, and Venture Capital consulting services.

Preceding my appointment at FIU, I was a Senior Software Engineer at Electricity Labs in Miami, FL. Some of my previous appointments have been as the Chief Technology Officer of Inceptures, a commercializer and venture capital/venture management firm located in Miami, FL, an Associate Professor of Engineering and the Department Chairperson at the Miami Dade College School of Engineering + Technology and has also worked as a researcher at the DSP Lab at Florida International University, a Software Engineer in Algorithm Research and Development for Beckman Coulter, Inc., and as a the lead Computer Engineer at CPS Products, Inc.

I am a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of ACM, Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
